To Give is to Receive

From early on in life, I always liked to teach and share with everyone what I learned. This solidifies the fact that when you help others, you help yourself.

Echoes from Zen Philosophy

I stumbled upon Zen philosophy many years ago by way of a small book called Zen Flesh Zen Bones. There was a Koan that went like this:

While Seisetsu was the master of Engaku in Kamakura he required larger quarters, since those in which he was teaching were overcrowded. Umezu Seibei, a merchant of Edo, decided to donate five hundred pieces of gold called ryo toward the construction of a more commodious school. This money he brought to the teacher.

Seisetsu said: "All right. I will take it." Umezu gave Seisetsu the sack of gold, but he was dissatisfied with the attitude of the teacher. One might live a whole year on three ryo, and the merchant had not even been thanked for five hundred.

"In that sack are five hundred ryo," hinted Umezu. "You told me that before," replied Seisetsu. "Even if I am a wealthy merchant, five hundred ryo is a lot of money," said Umezu. "Do you want me to thank you for it?" asked Seisetsu. "You ought to," replied Uzemu. Why should I?" inquired Seisetsu. "The giver should be thankful."

Echoes from Zig Zigler

Then later in life I came across a great business philosopher named Zig Ziglar. From Secrets of Closing the Sale written in 1984, Zig professes "You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want."

Echoes from the Bible

Here's a phrase from the bible Luke6:38 that reads: "Give and it will be given unto you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Echoes from David Allan

When you give and do it without wanting anything in return, you're on the higher road to true joy and happiness. True happiness and joy can only occur inside of you. It's the ultimate satisfaction that spreads positive vibrations throughout the universe. Help yourself and make life worth living by giving and doing your best every single moment.

Your New Year's Resolution Solution / Doctor's Confession

NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION SOLUTION: START ANYTIME

The new year is a great time to start a to-do list for improving yourself, but in reality isn't anytime the right time to begin?

And when you start, do it right and give yourself a better chance to succeed. It all comes down to whether or not you're ready, because if you start a resolution and fail... most likely you weren't really ready. Failure could be on account of not preparing? Or didn't have the support you needed? Or didn't have the right plan? So many variables to clog up the success channel. And if you succeed in your goals, what happens from there, and what's gonna make your resolution stick?

Why Do This?

What's all the fuss about resolutions anyway? In nature things grow wild, and that's a beautiful thing. If you ever tended a garden, there's lots to do to keep your garden from going wild. Weeds prop up, and insects can really be an obstacle to cultivating beautiful flowers or edible fruits and veggies. In creating a successful life, you must have a plan and a resolution to get better. A resolution is nothing more than a goal.

Doctor's Confession

I can relate to succeeding in a resolution last year only to find myself treading water backwards to my starting point. I lost 20 pounds (from 185 to 165) and was so excited to look and feel better. I took my suits to be altered to my new size, and I proclaimed that I would never ever go back to that weight again. Fast forward one year, and I gained back half the weight tipping the scale at 174.5.
So I begin again, and I've learned a little more about myself and human nature. First off, don't even think that you understand what's deeply ingrained in your subconscious. Secondly, after you successfully complete your resolution, continue to reinforce your new habits, and/or start a new set of goals. One thing is for certain, and that is change. You can either choose to set a plan to participate in that process, or plan to fail. The good news is that anytime you decide to start and discipline yourself to be better, then you will change for the better.

I have set a new resolution for 2017 to shed my gained weight, and vow once again never to gain it back. And the very best chance of success, is with a Rocketship Wellness 60-Day program. Why not join me by setting up a New Year's Resolution? Or why not start a New Year's Resolution anytime. Dream big; Take Action; Achieve. When you're ready, say it's possible and let's talk.

DAY 5 - LOSE THE GUT 60-DAY CHALLENGE

Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.
Joel A. Barker

It's day 5 and overall I'm pleased so far with my mission. Just as with any mission, you have to assess and check your trajectory all the time... otherwise you'll get off track. Second, is to know your tendencies, as with mine I love to keep busy, but that doesn't always equate to meaningful action.

Over the last five days, I see that I haven't had time for everything I thought I could do. I found myself scrambling to squeeze many things in at the last moment towards the end of the evening. So I'm prepared to make adjustments as a go. One of the items I created was a really cool Rocketship Wellness 60 day challenge checklist. I really suggest you open it up and take a look. Here are the essentials of the checklist:
  1. ___STATEMENT AM / PM
  2. ___HYPNOTHERAPY
  3. ___SUPPLEMIENTS
  4. ___EXERCISE >30 MIN.
It's really great to go through this program, because I get firsthand in the future to understand and empathize with all the patients I will be supporting on this program. Let's take a little deeper look into each item on the checklist.
1) Statement a.m./p.m. - To do this program, I highly suggest setting your goals before you begin. We use the Oxcart Technique to formulate a personal statement that should take only between two and three minutes to read. We suggest to read this aloud when your first rise from sleep, and then read aloud before retiring to bed. This is a five-minute investment that will return great dividends for your future. The personal statement will be unique to each person, and I'm happy to share mine with you HERE.
2) Hypnotherapy - By tapping into the subconscious mind, we can harness great power to make positive changes even if it's against your own will. That's right... Your conscious mind is programmed with many negative messages that can sabotage your success. With hypnotherapy, the message is sent below the conscious mind, and can often release the chains that are holding back your success. Rocketship wellness we appreciate the power of hypnotherapy, and create personalized hypnotherapy programs that will help with your successes.
3) Supplements - The supplements used in the program are time tested products with specificity to facilitate the cleansing and detoxification process of the digestive tract and the blood. There are seven supplements that are taken daily, and you can find background information right HERE.
4) Exercise >30 minutes - because most of us live sedentary lifestyles, it's important to include at least 30 minutes of some type of exercise. It doesn't have to be over-the-top, but some form of exercise will facilitate additional movement that will increase physiological actions and enhance the clearing and cleansing processes of the body. We plan to help set up the right exercise program for each individual. My routine consists of 30 minutes of some type of aerobic activity such as biking, skating, or rebounding… Along with 30 minutes of yoga. I'm in the process of creating my own exercise activity, and will keep everyone posted as it develops.

BREAKFAST DAY 5

Multigrain hot cereal featuring rye, barley, oats, and wheat topped with cacao nibs, chia and hemp seeds, dates, and Black mission figs. Green smoothie consisting of parsley, mango, mixed berries, and garlic. Of course all organic.

LUNCH DAY 5

Fresh organic fruit from the Farmer's Market. Blackberries and mandarin tangerines.

DINNER DAY 5

Broiled in a cast-iron skillet... clean steak (antibiotic and hormone free), with an amazing kale salad consisting of black mission figs, ground kale chips, lemon, – balsamic, dash of high quality olive oil, dash of see salt and ground pepper. Who says a detoxification program can be difficult when you can eat like this?

DAY 3 - LOSE THE GUT 60-DAY CHALLLENGE

WE ARE ROLLIN' AND DAY 3 IS A WRAP!

If you're new to this story, click HERE for background details in our first post on the campaign.

If you'll notice, I'm big on superfood seeds. I'll add chia seeds and hemp seeds to almost anything. There's a lot of foods that can be categorized as superfoods, so I suggest you do a little Google searching on your own to understand what the experts are saying. Most scientific experts don't give the name much weight, because it's really hard to define. Mostly what I understand is that a superfood is just a food that is nutrient dense for it's small size serving, but wikipedia has it pegged differently... see HERE. I consider cacao to be an incredible superfood... so I'll let you be the judge.

BREAKFAST DAY 3

organic multi-grain cereal consisting of whole grains of rye, barley, oats, and wheat. Along with hemp and Chia seeds, cacao nibs, apples, and dates. Green smoothie consisting of blueberries, arugula, bananas, and dates.

LUNCH DAY 3

Ezekiel sprouted tortilla, nori sheet, raw colby cheese, three bean lentils, chia seeds. Green smoothie consisting of blueberries, arugula, banana, dates. All organic.

SNACK DAY 3

Here's a snack I can have on my 60-day program. Fresh pineapple and mint courtesy of Paleta. I had a great meeting with Joe and he informed me what Paleta can do for people that want to go on my program but don't want to bother cooking. They can prepare all the meals and deliver it fresh daily.

On the New West diet, we have the option to have unlimited about of food from category 1. the New West diet are the foods allowed on the program. Although we can have "unlimited" it would be foolish to overeat. What's most important, is that you eat 3 solid meals that are nutritious and that you're not experiencing any hunger pains or cravings. Of course you are shifting to a new set of habits most likely, and that can be the most difficult thing to deal with. That's why a support network is ready to give you answers when you have questions, and give you the confidence that you can do this!

DINNER DAY 3

The food is compliments from Paleta. Tuscan free range turkey meatballs, rapini, quinoa spaghetti, alongside a melon cup. For my meal I left off the spaghetti. Paleta will be attending the party on March 5th, and will be bringing samples to share with us, and also will give a short demonstration of how their program works and what they offer.

We are calling it a day... for I must conserve energy...and begin again tomorrow...

Thanks for tuning in and offering your support, and remember to always count your blessings,

David

DAY 2 - LOSE THE GUT 60-DAY CHALLENGE

Day 1 is history and WOW... what a campaign. If you're new to this story, please read my first post HERE.

KEY SUPPORTING DETAILS

In order to have success on this program... details matter. The essence of the program is just eating really healthy, and consuming a bunch of supplements, but there are details that you want to know about to help you through the process.

Here's a couple of details I use to help get me to the mountaintop:
  • Reading a personal statement out loud twice daily... in the morning and in the evening. This is from the Oxcart Technique and the book the Passion To Move Mountains, mentioned in one of my previous posts. This is a great goal setting method that I highly recommend for any mission you want to accomplish. At
  • Personalized hypnotherapy routine that is listened to on a daily basis.
At Rocketship Wellness™, we can help you formulate the best personal statement, and choose the very best hypnotherapy routine that will support you on your journey as you reach for your goals whatever they may be.

BREAKFAST - DAY 2

Two small tangerines, soft boiled egg on Ezekiel toast topped with raw butter, avocado, and sea salt.
Green smoothie consisting of arugula, mint, mango, banana, blackberries, and dates.

LUNCH DAY 2

Hot soup! Home made with tomato, spring water, coconut, celery, mushrooms, raw butter,
garlic, salt and pepper. All organic and garnished with celery and carrots.

DINNER DAY 2

Dinner Day 2: Mixed green organic salad, Black-Brown-green lentils, Brown and wild rice, balsamic and a pinch of Himalayan sea salt. Green smoothie consisting of arugula, mango, mint, banana, dates.

I know that I am blessed to have many friends offer support through this challenge, and all I can do... is to do my best. Whenever you do your best, there should never be regrets.

Everyone has sent me off on my journey, and now I have to stay focused to the finished line. Of course, the ultimate goal is to make positive changes that will carry me through for the rest of my life, and then I can have a greater influence on the next person that has hopes and dreams for themselves and wants to be better.

And remember...

Always count your blessings,

David

Preparing the Launch of my 60-Day Program (The Day Before)

To best reference this story, make sure you see my initial post on the subject HERE.

Wow, I start my program tomorrow, Jan. 5, 2016.

As I plug along my daily updates, it will serve as a memory for myself, but better yet, set a record for others that want to take a look under the hood of what this program is about -- and what they should expect. The best message will be to tell them that if I can do, so can they do it.

There's really much to share, and over the 60-days you're peeking over my shoulder, there will be much insight for the one that would like to take this on for themselves.

Preparation is the key to getting this done, and this stage shouldn't be rushed. I hope there's much success selling these programs, but it's not done like selling widgets, or magic markers. There's a screening process that one has to get through, in order to be accepted into our program. If we can't see a commitment, then you're out. We want those that will do what it takes to succeed, and that's the only mindset that can get you through this process.

Take for example running a marathon. Whoa, this is not something you're just gonna try... LOL. You gotta prepare, and be ready to go, and have the confidence that you can finish in one piece. I remember a patient once told me they were going to do a marathon and they didn't even train for it. I found this person back in my office after the race with several injuries. First off, they couldn't even finish and collapsed at mile 16. Ha, I'm surprised they lasted that long.

So, as I prepare I'll share with you a few items that I want to emphasize when anyone takes on this challenge.

One of my mentors in personal development created a unique goal setting program called the Oxcart Technique. This is part of a book that was published in 2014 called The Passion To Move Mountains. Because of it's time-tested success principles, I've decided to feature it to use along side of the programs we will be offering at Rocketship Wellness.

It has the same principles that you'll find in most goal setting programs, but this one is based on a simple story that has an action plan along with a failure and a success scenario. These scenarios are the paths that occur in life when we take action and when we don't. This becomes a short personal statement that is read twice daily. One of the reasons this system works... is the fact that your goal is constantly in front of you. Kinda like the saying -- "squeaky wheel gets the grease." If your wheel squeaks, it's gonna remind you to oil that baby so you won't be bothered by the noise. The author's name is Terry Fossum, and you can find him at www.terryfossum.com. Besides creating a great book, he's a great humanitarian and has projects in Africa where he spends a lot of time giving back to those in need.

Another mind tool I will be using for the next 60 days is hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy works on the subconscious voice within, and bypasses whatever thoughts you might consciously have at any given moment. This is helpful, because there's a lot of voices within us that hinder us from succeeding, and this could pertain to anything.

We help create a personalized hypnotherapy MP3 for you to listen to at least once a day (not while you're driving). To learn more about the power of hypnotherapy, here's one of the best featured on TED talks, and her name is Suzy Prudden -- click HERE

Okay, much more to do today... and thanks for tuning in. You comments, suggestions and questions are always welcomed.

Always count your blessings,

David
