How Long Will it Take to Learn a New Habit?

Maybe you have one of these goals in mind, and the question is how long will it take to have them stick?

I'm sure you've heard it takes 21 days to learn a new habit. Well, don't believe everything you hear, because current research disputes this finding. The 21-day theory was purported by Dr. Maxwell Maltz in a book he wrote back in the 1950's called Psycho-Cybernetics, A New Way to Get More Living Out of Life

More recently, one study published in the European Journal of Social Psychology report on average of 66 days. In the study they surmised with the inherent variables of human behavior, it can take anywhere from 18 to 154 days to hard-wire a habit.

What's most important is to recognize a habit can take up to 8 months to become a habit. So don't be hard on yourself for not getting the results you seek in a shorter amount of time.

The Rocketship Wellness Academy offers a free 30 and 60-day program to take on the life. Since this time appropriation is well under the threshold of the finding in this one particular study, we feel that many improvements can be achieved within this time frame.
